Phase II: Promotion

  • Primary Goal: Overcome barriers to Census participation countywide by sharing promotional messages and materials through a network of trusted Census Partners. Outreach may include media outreach, events, PSAs, collateral in high-traffic places and social media.

Complete Count Committee Role

  • Build list and recruit Census Partner Contacts.
  • Identify local stakeholders that rely on Census data.
  • Participate in promoting and presenting for Speakers Bureau.
  • Contribute to list of locations/events for Census promotion.
  • Share Polk Census toolkit, materials and messages with target audiences.
  • Review outreach materials and plans; make recommendations for additional strategies.

Subcommittees

Business / Healthcare / Social Service Agencies

  • Involve a cross-section within the community to leverage their reach to a wide scope of people and promote the Census within their organizations to ensure a high participation rate.

Civic / Community / Multicultural

  • Involve members of the various civic/community groups, cultural/ethnic groups and institutions across Polk County to enhance awareness and benefits of a complete count. This would include organizations and groups that already provide services to the community. Persons with disabilities would be included in this committee.

Housing

  • Target housing types with high residential counts [e.g.: multi-family; apartments; condos; mobile home parks; assisted living facilities (not senior); etc.] to maximize the reach of education about the Census.

Education / Youth / Senior

  • Include representatives from Polk County schools, local colleges, workforce training organizations, senior organizations and living facilities to ensure an accurate count for all ages. Recognizing the importance of reaching all segments of the population, education efforts should target children under 5, college-age residents and seniors.

Faith-Based

  • Include members of faith-based groups and institutions in Polk County to enhance awareness and benefits of a complete count among members.
